Parts for Protec, Summit QCP, and Kodak MXP 104

We still get weekly calls inquiring about what happened to Fischer Industries and where to get Fischer parts. Well, of course from FI Sales. We are pleased to have supplied Fischer tech support and parts for almost 2 years now.

What seems to be even more of a secret is that we supply parts for Protec processors like the ECOMAX and OPTIMAX as well as the processors that Protec built for Summit and Kodak. The Summit QCP is identical to the Protec OPTIMAX and all the parts are 100% interchangeable. The same goes for the Kodak MXP 104 which is also identical to the Protec OPTIMAX with fully interchangeable parts. Regardless of whether you call it a Protec OPTIMAX, Summit QCP, or Kodak MXP 104, it is the same processor and you can get all the parts from FI Sales.

We have a Protec parts price available online at
We have a Protec OPTIMAX manual with parts shown at
These two online tools should help you identify the parts you need for your Protec OPTIMAX, Summit QCP, and Kodak MXP 104. If you need additional assistance, call us at 1-888-972-9777. We are available to help.

X-Ray Industry Changes

Lots of news recently coming out of the x-ray industry ...

Sound Technology's parent company VCA Antech has acquired Eklin. See http://www.soundeklin.com/company/news/vca-antech-inc-completes-merger-eklin-medical-systems-inc for the official announcement. Looks like the new company name is Sound-Eklin. Clever. Although there has been some talk of flat panel DR prices rising with the merger, I'm not sure whether this economy will support any digital imaging price increases. Still lots of choices out there. Time will tell.

AFP got some needed cash and has a new Chairman of the Board. See http://www.afpimaging.com/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=26&cntnt01returnid=102 for full details. We wish our industry friend Donald Rabinovitch the best of success within the new structure of AFP Imaging.

We also wish our friend Paul Kupsco, formerly of Alphatek, all the best in his new venture with TXR.

Parts for Fischer Industries X-Ray Film Processors

Fischer Industries has been out of business for over 1 year now. There are some folks that think that means parts for Fischer Industries x-ray film processors are no longer available. Not true! Since January of 2008, FI Sales has been providing tech support (at no charge), downloadable technical data at www.fisalesllc.com (at no charge), and parts for Fischer Industries x-ray film processors. And we do not have a limited supply of parts. We continue to restock Fischer parts to meet dealer and practice demand and plan to do so for as many years as the market requires parts. What other processor company offers tech support and parts for 25+ year old processor models? We have a Fischer Parts Reference Price List available for download along with lots of other technical information at http://www.fisalesllc.com/parts__support.

So if you have an old Fischer Industries x-ray film processor that needs parts, just tell your dealer to get the parts they need from FI Sales, LLC. We are available toll free at 1-888-972-9777 or online at www.fisalesllc.com.

PROTEC Acquires PROVOTEC

FI Sales is pleased to inform you that PROTEC GmbH & Co. KG – medical systems - in Oberstenfeld, Germany has acquired the majority shareholding of PROVOTEC GmbH in Espelkamp, Germany.

By taking this step, PROTEC will continue to strengthen their position in the world-wide market for medical imaging systems. In the future PROTEC will be able to offer complete x-ray systems for the digital direct radiography sector including x-ray generators, x-ray tubes, bucky tables, detectors and image acquisition software. Of course, PROTEC will also include complete analog systems in the product range.

PROVOTEC GmbH in Espelkamp (North Rhine-Westphalia - Germany) was founded in 1998. After the former US manufacturer Picker stopped its European business activities, a group of experienced employees acquired the product rights. This ensured the supply of spare parts for older Picker x-ray systems and gave them the opportunity to develop and sell their own high-quality x-ray systems. You can find more information on PROVOTEC under: http://www.provotec.com/.

Surviving This Economy as a Small Business

How does any small business survive in this economy today? Sometimes I wonder, but at FI Sales we are surviving and some would say even flourishing. As a debt-free company, we don't have to worry about loan payback or credit card balances. We continue to invest our profits into the business, but we have lived within our means and not accrued debt. We are broadening our product offering, making sure our support services are up to date and of value, and lowering our prices. That's right, we're lowering our prices.

We just posted a new Protec Parts Price List dated 3/4/09. Our offering has expanded since we first started offering parts for Protec processors. More importantly, we have lowered prices on 46 items while raising prices on only 3 items. This is a small part of our business as Protec processors are known for their incredible reliability, but as long as we are in a position to pass along savings where we can to our dealers and customers, we will. We also plan for a 2009 with no price increase on the price of the Protec ECOMAX and OPTIMAX x-ray film processors. The ECOMAX remains the best processor bargain on the market today.

So enjoy some lower prices, and remember that the Protec parts fit not only Protec brand processors, but also the Summit QCP, Alphatek AX-200, JPI JP-33, and Kodak MXP 104.

Parts for Kodak MXP 104

We just got one of life's little surprises recently. From 2003-2005, Kodak sold the MXP 104 x-ray film processor. It turns out that unit was made by Protec for Kodak, and it is exactly the same as the Protec OPTIMAX that we stock and offer today. The parts are identical, so we have begun offering replacement parts for the Kodak MXP 104. Carestream (Kodak) has now "discovered" FI Sales, and they are sending customers to FI Sales for MXP 104 parts. Nice little surprise for us and for practices that own a Kodak MXP 104. Now MXP 104 owners have a stocking source for parts in the USA.
